Each youth group's experience is unique!
Our youth programs include:

Day programs for schools and other organizations

Day programs can be anywhere from 4-8 hours in length, and both include our experiential education process including our low course and our highly acclaimed Sky Challenge.

Schools, sports teams and other organizations we have served.

On-site activities (we will come to you with portable activities)

We will bring an arsenal of activities and low challenges that can be set up in a sports field, gymnasium or large classroom. Sessions can be tailored to your needs starting at 1 hour and being as long as 6 hours.

Team 101

Team 101 is a great introductory program for students who have potential to work with others, but they just haven't realized it yet. This program focuses all around all aspects of great teamwork. With this package we will alter the program according to the needs, age and physical abilities of each group.

Sun Down/Sun Up

In “SDSU” the program packages any of our programs and camping or Sky Splash and camping in one convenient and cost effective package.

Adventure Sports Badge

In the adventure sports badge the scouts will complete the following activities as required by the GSA; climbing, rappelling and completing a high confidence course. This badge takes about 5-8 hours with a maximum of 15 scouts. Feel free to pair this badge up with the Aqua Park, Camping or both!

Sky Splash

Sky Splash combines a half day of hands on learning with our custom team building program and the refreshing water of Dutch Springs in one convenient package. Add on lunch provided by us and this "one-stop-shop" package has no worries for the one planning it; education, recreation, lunch and most importantly not having to worry about the mess all included in one package.

Climb High

In this program we focus more of your time and energy on high adventure fun. We teach everyone how to belay and then they belay each other. We teach everyone how to rappel then they rappel from either 35-feet or from 17- feet. The program can either focus entirely around our high element or can combine more of our traditional programs.

Huddle-Up !

In Huddle-Up, the entire program is sports minded according to the specific type of sport the participants play. Whether it's lacrosse, basketball or field hockey the program will center around the specific sports, all with the terminology of each individual sport incorporated. More importantly, during our activity debriefs we will transfer the actual learning back to the field, court or pool.

Bullying Prevention Program

This program is best served over a longer period of time than the rest of our programs. We recommend a time frame of between 3-9 months, with visits at least twice per month. The program combines experiential classroom time with high impact activities that will foster outcomes of how to prevent bullying and positive youth interactions. Our program focuses on not only the students but also the faculty and staff as well as the parents, to make this initiative an all community activity for the maximum amount of support.

Dog Mushing Curriculum

Does your class explore the world of Dog Mushing? The Iditarod is the world's longest race at about 1,200 miles. On average each dog sled team has about 15 dogs who eat about 2,500 pounds of food during the race, which can take up to two weeks to complete in temperatures as cold as -60 degrees Fahrenheit (and that doesn't include wind chill, brrrr.)

Our program can be adapted to any grade level and any specialized curriculum. In general you can expect the children to be exposed to:

1. Learn how sled dogs are trained
2. Learn which dogs are best for each type of mushing, how and when they are disciplined and when they are retired.
3. Learn what dogs eat
4. Learn what the musher wears
5. Learn what is carried on the sled and what first aid might be needed by the dogs.
6. Learn the parts of the sled and mushing vocabulary.
7. Learn about the Iditarod, Yukon Quest and other local sled dog races.
8. Learn about weight pulling competitions
9. A Chance to speak with a seasoned dog musher.
10. A chance to meet the dogs in person, approach them and interact with them.

Also the children will see the sled in action and have a chance to pull each other. Call NorthStar Adventure today to find out more information and to book your classroom for this exciting and unique opportunity. Due to weather conditions in PA, this program is only offered from January-June and September-December.
